Invitation to a EuSEN/EuSEM Study
Dear Colleague,
Emergency Departments are facing serious challenges, but EuSEN is trying to maintain the level of scientific activities.
Preanalytical errors affect the ED performance negatively and compromise the quality of care. As a society, we would like to have a deep understanding of the problems in the preanalytical phase affecting the performance indicators, like the total time in the ED.
EuSEN is conducting a study together with the European Society for Emergency Medicine (EUSEM) and the European Federation of Laboratory Medicine (EFLM).
The study is called ‘Blood sampling in the Emergency Department’ and will have the following objectives:
General:
To have a deep understanding of the Preanalytical Phase Process (PPP) in the ED.
To identify the use of key performance indicators (KPI) in the PPP
Specifically:
To evaluate the use of the KPI
To estimate the rate of rejections
We will appreciate your participation, especially considering the actual Covid19 situation. To facilitate and improve the quality of the responses a manual has been attached to this email.
This survey takes approximately 10 minutes to finish and will be available online until December the 07th. The results of this survey will give us a clear understanding of the preanalytical phase in the emergency department. Thanks in advance. Sincerely yours Door Lauwaert EuSEN President
